Compliance Officer - Bracknell, Berks - initial 12-month Contract £400pd (inside IR35)

Play a key role in implementing and embedding the Risk & Compliance Framework for the UK operations of this global brand.

1) Intro:

The Compliance and Risk function takes on responsibility for monitoring, supporting and advising the business on compliance - notably regulatory and conduct risks. As Compliance Officer, you will use your experience to identify and assess potential risks, adequately mitigating through robust policies, procedures, training, systems and controls.

2) The Role:

Reporting to the Compliance Manager, your role involves ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.

  • Providing expert regulatory advice and guidance to the business on a range of compliance topics including Consumer Duty, credit broking requirements within the Consumer Credit Sourcebook (CONC), and Data Protection.
  • Undertaking monitoring and testing activities to assess the effectiveness of regulatory and conduct risk control processes in place, the level of compliance with regulatory and internal standards, and transactional monitoring of key operational areas such as complaints and Data Subject Access Requests.
  • Reviewing and supporting the business to log breaches and incidents.
  • Conducting root cause analysis on complaints, breaches, and incidents data to identify themes and emerging risks that inform continual improvement of policies, processes, and procedures and delivery of good customer outcomes.
  • Assisting in overseeing risk management activity to ensure all relevant risks and controls are captured on the Risk Management Tool.
  • Reviewing and updating applicable polices, processes and procedures, overseeing the implementation of these as appropriate.
  • Providing sign-off of on marketing materials and customer communications in accordance with FCA rules and guidance.
  • Assisting with the collation of risk and compliance Management Information (MI) for reporting to senior management, Committee(s) and/or Board meetings.

3) About You:

  • Detailed technical knowledge and FCA Handbooks including CONC, DISP, PRIN and SYSC, legislative frameworks such as AML and Data Protection, and understanding of industry best practice standards.
  • Previous experience working within a compliance and/or risk department of a FCA regulated company, preferably gained within the motor industry.
  • Practical understanding and experience of the FCA’s expectations in relation to customer outcomes and treatment of vulnerable customers.
  • Involvement with compliance monitoring activities, carrying out testing and thematic reviews.
  • Ability to analyse and translate regulations into policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Effective communicator, able to discuss regulatory compliance matters clearly and concisely with stakeholders at all levels within the business.
  • Ability to draft documents/reports to a high standard.
