Youth Worker (Recreational/Youth Engagement and front of house)

Burnt Oak, North London

£13.15 per hour, with a Saturday evening premium of £15.12 per hour

Are you passionate about working with young people and eager to inspire the next generation This is your chance to make a real difference by delivering fun and engaging activities for young people aged between 9-19 years old and up to 25 with additional needs. You will be working directly with them to develop their social skills, interests, confidence, and fulfil their potential.

In the role as a Recreational Youth Worker you will ensure our clients recreation and activity area in their youth zone is the heart of what they offer to young people.

Their recreation offer is wide ranging and no day is ever the same. You will be key in ensuring young people have access to an exciting and engaging programme, which could range from pool competitions hosting your own version of ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’, to organising a debate on mental health or hosting an anti-bulling project. The possibilities are endless.

The post holder will be responsible for creating a lively, dynamic, creative, and fun-loving environment for all young people, whilst also creating space for young people to explore and discuss some of the big issues of the day and of course have fun!

You will support the front of house, ensuring young people get a warm welcome when they arrive and engage with young people in the local community spaces our client is in.

Your enthusiasm and positive outlook will be instrumental in creating a warm and secure atmosphere for their members. Moreover, you'll actively promote their charitable organisation to potential members and visitors while ensuring the constant welfare of the young people under your care.

To be successful as their Recreational Youth Worker, you will have:

  • Experience of face-to-face activity delivery, working with young people both in groups and individually
  • Experience in delivering a range of informal, creative activities to young people
  • The ability to engage and build positive relationships with young people, including the disengaged / additional needs
  • An understanding of issues affecting young people’s lives
  • A willingness to work unsociable hours
  • Commitment to Safeguarding children
