Our client is looking for a dedicated Youth Offending Service Worker to join their team in the Children's Services department. The role involves managing a caseload of children and young people who are involved with the Youth Offending Service due to pre-court disposals, statutory court orders, or bail support packages. The successful candidate will work to reduce the risk of re-offending by addressing complex needs and behaviours.

Develop and deliver interventions, both individually and in groups, focused on reducing criminogenic risk factors and promoting desistance from offending.
Engage with children, young people, and their families in a way that promotes compliance with court orders and fosters trust and professional relationships.
Work in a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate with various agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and their families.
Incorporate restorative approaches in everyday tasks, including interactions with victims, colleagues, and stakeholders.
Prepare pre-sentence reports for the court, suggesting interventions that consider the welfare of the child and aim to reduce offending.
Undertake pre-court preparation and post-court support, attending court to represent the Youth Offending Service, provide advice, and develop bail support packages.
Develop interventions to support parents and carers in improving their parenting skills and guiding their children through court orders and other legal processes.
Perform YOS office duty on a rota basis, attend police stations and secure facilities as required, and conduct home visits to support children, young people, and their families.

Additional Responsibilities (PO2 Grade):

Manage high-risk, complex cases using problem-solving skills and creative solutions.
Utilize systemic, trauma-informed, and restorative practices to address barriers to engagement and complex situations.
Mentor and support newly qualified staff and students in their development, providing constructive feedback and supporting them with managing a range of cases.
Autonomously organize service delivery frameworks, including planning meetings, reviews, and team-around-the-child meetings.
Contribute to peer reviews, audits, and the delivery of training programs to support the professional development of the team.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Proven experience working with children and young people with complex needs, preferably within the youth offending context.
Ability to prepare comprehensive reports for court and other legal bodies.
Strong communication skills to engage with children, young people, families, and various stakeholders effectively.
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and collaborating with different agencies.
Knowledge of restorative practices and trauma-informed approaches.
Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and occasional weekends, based on the needs of the service.
