Our Pain 2 Power youth organisation is seeking Outstanding individuals who have a wealth of lived experience and professional experience to closely work alongside and effectively support young people who face various challenges to enable them to reach their full potential!

As a Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs, including but not limited to ASD, ADHD and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties.

Role: Part time

Location: South London and Surrey

Salary: Competitive

Experience: Two years minimum working with youth at risk and youth with SEMH needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with young people in education institutions, at their homes and in the community.
  • To give tailored support on a 1:1 or group basis.
  • To build trusting, authentic and inspiring rapport with student in order to advise and understand the young persons needs.
  • Where needs of young people are seen to be outside Our Pain 2 Power remit, to be able to effectively signpost to appropriate organisation to fulfil their needs.
  • To ensure that all tasks are carried out with strict impartiality and with regard to confidentiality, equal opportunities and safeguarding.

Requirements:

  • Passion for working with young learners with social and emotional mental health needs.
  • Excellent understanding of safeguarding and ability to empathize with trauma experienced by students.
  • Experience of working effectively with people in a range of organisations e.g. Youth groups, local authority, education, including building and maintaining good relationships.
  • Experience with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is desirable.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills.
