Global Player in Freight Management, Engineering and Movements

Position Summary:

We are looking to recruit a proven Team Player to support our existing team in the movement's management of trains and wagons entering and exiting the British Steel Plant in Hartlepool. The objective of the role is once the rolling stock has come to a stop and declared as safe you will support the opening and closing of latches and doors on the wagons pre and post loading of materials.

This is a crucial part of the Safety Critical aspect of the movements of the train and freight wagons with/without its load and in conjunction with other team members will ensure full opening and closure of wagon doors when entering and exiting the Plant.

Person Profile/Experience:

Due to the nature of the role our successful candidate will be physically fit and healthy, there is a period of waiting for the train to arrive and be deemed safe so patience is a must as there will be periods of waiting around. Previous experience of working on or around Rolling Stock would be advantageous but not necessary.

You will be reliable, flexible and punctual as the role commands early starts but benefits from the occasional early finish. Payment is made for an 8 hour day and this will be honoured should there be the opportunity for an early finish.

The trains run 3 days per week and these change weekly, you would be advised circa 72 hours in advance as to what days will be required for the following week.

Qualifications:

No qualifications are required but we desire a good attitude to work and learning, excellent reliability and punctuality, fit, healthy and able to walk long distances unaided.

You will also have your own safety boots and suitable work wear, to include coat as the plant starts to cool at this time of year.

Our successful candidate must be able to complete a Medical and Drug & Alcohol check before start of work. This is a mandatory requirement
