Location: Slough

Salary: £28,000-£35,000 p.a.

Summary of Role:

The Workshop Technician will be responsible for carrying out and maintaining a consistent throughput of technical repairs on lighting and associated equipment.

Responsibilities:

Duties include:

  • To identify and safely fault find issues on a range of electrical and electronic equipment including some three phase appliances.
  • Undertaking electrical/electronic, mechanical, and rigging repairs on a variety of equipment in a safe and professional manner.
  • To research parts and equipment required to effect repairs on technical equipment you have assessed.
  • Communicating with the Repairs and Engineering Co-ordinator regarding any faults that cannot be resolved in-house.
  • Preparing equipment to be sent to external suppliers for repair including scanning on to RT Pro jobs for tracking purposes.
  • Broad testing of completed repairs (including PAT) before managing the return to stock.
  • Liaising with the repairs co-ordinator about retiring stock which you have identified as being beyond economical repair.
  • Work with the Repairs Inventory Technician to ensure stock repair supplies are maintained at appropriate levels.
  • Ensure the department workshop is always maintained in an efficient and organised and safe manner with all tools and equipment accounted for.
  • Work with appropriate line managers to ensure all operations are risk assessed and control measures are in place and being adhered to.
  • Assist Repairs and Engineering Co-ordinator in the creation of documentation of repairs process and help support repairs administrator with costs of repairs when required.

Person specification

  • Driven to achieve and maintain the highest quality and service standards.
  • Must be IT literate with the ability to learn in house asset management systems.
  • Demonstrating a positive approach to the company whilst reacting to the high demands of the business.
  • Very good communication skills.
  • Adaptable and willingness to learn.
  • Flexible to work overtime and occasional weekends as the needs to the business require.
  • To be able to demonstrate confidence handling technical equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and or electronic theory.
  • Qualifications or previous experience in fault finding and electrical repairs (including three phase) - Desirable.
  • Knowledge/experience of the entertainment/film/TV lighting industry - desirable.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings (CAD) - Desirable
  • Have a valid, clean UK driving licence and able to drive on occasion when needed the repairs vehicle.
