Our client based in Lymington has a requirement for an experienced Engineering Machinist & CNC Programmer to join their busy team, the workshop has broad engineering capabilities and they deliver products designed to solve their markets most challenging problems.

The main duties will include the following: 
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop product designs and deliver engineering prototypes from within the on-site workshop.
  • Program, set-up and operate CNC and manual machines to produce high-quality precision components and prototype assemblies.
  • Develop CNC programming techniques and best practices.
  • Inspection of precision components and assemblies to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Input and develop the future capabilities of the workshop.
  • Input and monitor project schedules and ensure timely completion of projects.
The role will involve a high level of engineering problem solving with a primary focus on manufacturing a wide range of engineering prototypes to tight deadlines ensuring the highest levels of quality. You will develop innovative prototyping solutions by applying your engineering abilities and expert manufacturing and assembly knowledge throughout the product development process.

Applicants must be able to evidence the following: 
  • Extensive experience in CNC programming, setting up and operation of CNC milling machines and lathes.
  • Extensive experience in the use of manual milling machines, lathes, sheet metal working and hand tools.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, G-code and SolidCAM software knowledge would be an advantage.
  • A thorough understanding of technical drawings, specifications and standards.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide engineers to achieve prototyping and production goals.
  • A solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and tooling.
  • An awareness of developing manufacturing processes such as additive manufacturing technologies to support in-house capabilities in rapid prototyping.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • A degree or certification in mechanical engineering, manufacturing or a related field.
There is an immediate start available for this full-time, permanent position; day shift working pattern, Monday to Friday. Salary will be commensurate with experience, but around £38k per annum.
