Workshop Technician

  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Location: Trafford Park
  • Salary: £26-28k
  • Monday – Friday 7.30am-4pm (Monday-Thursday) 7.30am- 3pm (Friday)

We are seeking a Workshop Technician with a strong background in mechanical operations and a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing workshop services, including fluting and grinding of mill cylinders, sieve recovering, small repairs, and occasional upgrades/overhauls, under the supervision of the Engineering Works Manager.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Operate CNC & PLC machines for fluting and grinding of mill cylinders.
  • Handle manual press and lathe operations.
  • Conduct quality control and inspection with detailed accuracy using tools such as micrometers.
  • Manually dismantle and rebuild roll packs & perform bearing fitting services.
  • Complete and store all necessary documentation using MS Office tools.
  • Maintain and ensure efficient operation of Buhler equipment on-site.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous machine workshop experience is essential.
  • Experience with manual lathe and cylindrical grinding is preferable.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Skilled in CNC machine set-up and operation.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments effectively.
  • Experience with fluting and grinding machines would be a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent people skills and a sharp focus on customer service.
  • Good organisational and planning skills.
  • IT knowledge, particularly MS Office.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Team player who is flexible, responsible, and accountable.
