Winder required in Chesterfield.

Winder Benefits:

  • Starting salary is circa £ 30,000.00 per annum plus overtime
  • Working hours: 37.5 hours basic per week - 8am to 4pm plus overtime when required

Winder Responsibilities:

  • As a Stator Winder you will play a vital part in ensuring that new and repaired machinery is fit for purpose and will work on various sizes of motors
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine specifications for electro mechanical engineering services and electric motor rewinds
  • Dismantle electric motors from fractional Kw rating up to 5 ton in weight, rewind and test, re-assemble once complete
  • Documenting all relevant data specific to unit's electro-magnetic characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage or intended serviceability
  • Rewinding various electro-mechanical equipment, including but not limited to: single phase, three-phase, dc fields, armatures, wound rotors and transformers
  • Observing proper insulating techniques and/or requirements during rewinding
  • Completing required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis
  • Operating specialised repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to: winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, grinders, cranes, forklift trucks, brazing units, dip tanks, VPI systems and various hand-held power and non-power tools
  • Observing all safety procedures and policies and use proper protective equipment
  • Keep work area clean and organised
  • All other duties as assigned

Winder Technical/ Functional Skills & Criteria:

  • Experience making and installing random/ must wound coils, form wound coils, brake coils, low/medium/high voltage A/C stators and rotors
  • Ability to complete test and inspection documents for safety related and augmented quality jobs
  • Ability to properly dip electrical windings
  • Removal of electrical windings by burnout
  • Flood dip treatment of electrical windings
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to identify and resolve assembly issues
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately
  • Excellent communicator
  • Ability to work as a team and alone
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
