Here at Impact we are currently recruiting for a skilled and versatile Workshop Technician to join one of our client's teams based in Northampton. The successful candidate will play a key role in performing panel fitting, stripping, welding, and various other general duties to ensure the efficient operation of our workshop and the timely repair of commercial vehicles.

Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 (Depdning on experience)

Location: Northampton

Hours: 8am - 5pm Monday-Friday

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct panel fitting, stripping, spraying and welding tasks on commercial vehicles to repair damaged panels and components.
  • Assess vehicle damage and determine appropriate repair methods, ensuring structural integrity and aesthetic appearance are restored.
  • Perform general mechanical repairs and maintenance tasks, including brake adjustments, suspension repairs, and engine diagnostics.
  • Utilise welding techniques to execute precise welds on steel and aluminium components.
  • Assist with vehicle inspections and diagnostics to identify issues and recommend repair solutions.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to prioritise tasks, coordinate workflow, and ensure efficient use of resources.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Workshop Technician in a commercial vehicle repair shop or similar environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Knowledge of commercial vehicle systems and components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension.
  • Familiarity with workshop tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and welding machines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
