Your new role


In your new role, the key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide VAT compliance and advisory services to a wide range of clients, getting involved in special assignments on an ad hoc basis.
  • Ensure the Firm's quality control procedures are adhered to as appropriate, and the Firm's professional standards are met. Identify risk, quality control and technical matters to the Partner/Associate Director, whilst exercising judgement within agreed parameters.
  • Develop professional relationships with clients and within the firm, adapting the approach for the relevant audience.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients including client take on and engagement; billings and recovery rates; and debt management.
  • To act as a key point of contact within the Firm for the client, together with the Partner/Associate Director. This will involve responding quickly to, as well as anticipating, client requests/needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided, and maintaining regular contact with clients.
  • There will be an expectation that you will take full responsibility for project delivery on the portfolio.
  • Ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets and keep client/Partner/Associate Director informed of overruns.
  • Liaise with HMRC and other stakeholders.
  • Self-development and continuing professional education with a view to progressing within the Firm.
  • Support, train, mentor and advise others in your area.
  • Challenge current practice - driving improvements and championing change.


What you'll need to succeed


The successful candidate will be an experienced tax professional and hold a professional qualification such as ATT or CTA. The ideal candidate will have experience managing and developing a diverse portfolio of clients alongside being comfortable overseeing a team of more junior staff. You will be an excellent communicator and be comfortable reporting to more senior directors and partners, being confident in taking responsibility for your own decisions and actions.
