Altum Consulting are pleased to be partnering with a technology-driven security & defence contractor to secure a financial controller for their UK business. Our client is backed by a global PE fund and has operations across 40 countries.

This individual will report to the Head of Group Reporting and will have a broad scope with exposure to senior stakeholders across the business including the Group Financial Controller and Group CFO. Will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Central UK holding companies of the Group including actuals reporting, budgeting and forecasting.

Key Responsibilities,

Month End

  • Production of monthly management including P&L and cash flow for all Central UK holding companies analysing actual performance against budget/forecast
  • Submission of month end results into OneStream in line with the Group month end timetable
  • Posting month end journals including payroll, intercompany, accruals and prepayments
  • Analysis of monthly results to identify one-off items (P&L and cash)
  • Preparation of accurate balance sheet reconciliations
  • Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations performed by the Management Accountant

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Preparation of the annual UK holding companies budgets (P&L, cash flow and balance sheet) in conjunction with the Group Financial Controller and Group CFO
  • Preparation of the quarterly re forecasts for UK holding companies (P&L, cash flow and balance sheet)
  • Preparation of weekly cash forecasts for the Treasury team for the UK holding companies Quarterly Recharges
  • Apportionment and recharging central costs across the Group to the wider business
  • Credit control on the recharges to ensure that they are paid by the business in a timely manner

Statutory Reporting

Support the Head of Group Reporting with the year-end process. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Reparation of supplemental working papers for the audit
  • Liaising directly with external auditors People Management
  • Manage the Management Accountant,which includes review of their work, training and development

Required Experience,

  • Hold an accredited accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CPA) Minimum 2 years PQE
  • Experience working in a large Group environment
  • Experience in the preparation of monthly reporting including monthly journals, variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Exposure to multi-currency environments
  • Experience using GL software for daily bookkeeping entries (experience of IFS would be an advantage)
  • Experience of preparing UK VAT returns
  • Working understanding of IFRS financial reporting requirements
  • Strong Excel and other Microsoft application skills
