Aon are looking to recruit a Financial Accountant into their UK Broking Entities team. This role will be predominantly based out of our London Head Office with flexibility to work from home also

What the day will look like

  • Controlling revenue and expense postings to the General Ledger from accruals and manual journals, including advising on complex subjects (multi-year revenue accruals)
  • Reviewing balance sheet accounts and working capital forecasts prepared by the Genpact team in India
  • Obtaining a detailed understanding of the business P&L, budget and forecast and ensuring appropriate reporting to the Aon UK Limited Board and Audit Committee
  • Assisting the Controller with the preparation of the Aon UK Limited statutory financial statements under IFRS and preparing analysis that will assist in the audit
  • Assisting the Controller with the preparation of the quarterly RMAR submission to the FCA and the quarterly audit committee papers
  • Completing activities within the financial reporting process to time and without material errors and working to resolve internal and external audit issues
  • Reconciling revenue and expenses (including accruals) to source subsystems
  • Reviewing aged reconciliations for non-fiduciary balance sheet accounts and ensuring reconciling items are identified and cleared through working with the business
  • Understanding and consistently applying revenue and expense recognition policies
  • Work with FP&A in understanding and reporting budget and forecast – and help deliver detailed management information for presentation to the Board and Audit Committee.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • ACA or ACCA part qualified
  • Accountant experience in financial control activities preferable
  • Preferable current knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP accounting
  • Good attention to detail
  • Prepared to seek resolution to queries and issues and is comfortable working across disciplines and to tight deadlines
  • Self-starter, proactive at resolving issues and finding solutions
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with financial reporting and data analysis
