AFI Rentals is currently recruiting for an experienced MEWP Engineer to focus exclusively on the truck and track mount platforms. The Truck and Track Mount Engineer role will include all aspects of preventive maintenance as well as repairs and breakdown support.

We would welcome applications for this MEWP Engineer role from people with a background in powered access or a similar industry (forklifts, cranes, heavy plant, etc.) with the following skills and experience: truck and track mount engineer, engineering, LOLER inspections, NVQ Level 2, diagnostics, as a mechanical engineer, or electrical engineer. Your responsibilities as an MEWP engineer will include:

  • Carrying out pre-delivery inspections (PDIs), services, LOLER inspections, repairs, manufacturer updates, and maintaining the corporate image of our fleet of rental machines.
  • Attending breakdowns on customer sites.
  • Accurately completing all necessary recording of checks using a company-issued PDA, following company procedure at all times.
  • Communicating effectively with the engineering team and hire office to make sure that the depot maintains maximum machine availability.

Essential Skills
  • You must be competent in electro/hydraulic systems.
  • You will be experienced in fault-finding/diagnostics.
  • You will be working closely with customers and colleagues, so you must be able to communicate professionally.
  • You must be able to prioritise tasks in an ever-changing, demanding hire environment.
  • You must hold an engineering qualification - minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
Desirable Skills
  • You should have sound mechanical knowledge in a heavy plant LOLER background, i.e. powered access or forklifts.
  • You will ideally hold a CAP (Competent Assessed Person) licence for inspecting powered access equipment.
