We are currently supporting a Leighton Buzzard based company with the recruitment for a Transport Planner. Our client are the market leaders in their sector, and they are recruiting for this role due to company expansion and growth.

Please note, this role is FULLY office based, with NO remote working. All candidates MUST have previous experience within transport planning based role.

For successful applicants, a basic disclosure criminal record check will be completed, as per our clients recruitment process.

Working Hours: 09:00am - 18:00pm (week 1), and then 13:00om - 22:00pm (week 2), rotating each week.

Duties:

  • As the Transport Planner, you will take responsibility for the daily scheduling of the dynamic delivery routes using a transport planning system.
  • In addition to this you will allocate the driver/vehicle resource for the following day, book whole sale orders and other designated orders, produce pallet movements, while ensuring you communicate to the operations team.
  • You will be the first point of contact for any email or telephone enquiries, manage and book any "out of area" consignments, review the previous days performance, while hi-lighting and proposing changes.
  • Any other related administrative tasks as and when required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Complete the daily scheduling ensuring you produce cost effective achievable schedules.
  • Ensure optimum use of both personnel and vehicle resource.
  • Assist with operational telephone calls.
  • Liaise with drivers reporting ETA’s and collection point departures ensuring routes are finalized on in house database.
  • Effective handovers to Planning, Warehouse and Transport teams.
  • Ensure all email and telephone queries are answered in a professional, concise manner to conclusion.
  • Produce and cascade reports both scheduled and on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Complete all assigned tasks using the planning check sheet.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely the following days plan ensuring they are made aware of any special instructions and time constraints.

Key Skills/Experience/Requirements:

  • Experience of distribution planning desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office.
  • Good understanding of the EU road transport rules and regulations.
  • Effective communication skills
  • The ability to build and maintain internal/external Stakeholder working relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues even when under pressure.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to problem solve
