I am currently recruiting for a Transport Officer on behalf of my client, a leading public sector organisation based in Leicestershire (LE3).

You will assist in the effective, efficient and legally compliant delivery of passenger transport services.

Duties will include:

  • To ensure the effective and efficient planning and procurement of passenger transport services both manually and using available ICT systems.
  • Ensure vehicles are properly licensed and insured appropriately by the contractor, maintaining administrative procedures as appropriate
  • To co-ordinate inspections of contract time-keeping, contract operation and other matters relevant to the County’s duties in respect of passenger transport
  • Maintain up to date and accurate records, including control and maintenance of the Transport Databases
  • The role does include On Call which is per rota taking calls on the helpline.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Need to be able to drive and have transport as you will be required to travel between the depots around Leicestershire County to attend meetings
  • Have empathy when solving issues, as there are families/carers involved.
  • Have experience in running and attending meetings
  • Be a team player
  • Analysis of loading and/or statistical information
  • Working in a transport procurement environment
  • Using databases and spreadsheets to produce reports
  • Co-ordination and ensuring efficient organisation of transport services

This role is full time, 37 hours per week from Monday-Friday. Pay rate is £12.69 PAYE or £16.89 via Umbrella.
