A large 3PL business, provider to many of Britain’s best-known brand names, is working with us to recruit a Transport Manager.

The Role - Transport Manager

Reporting to the General Manager, the Transport Manager will be responsible for an important new 3PL contract. This consists of c.50 vehicles in nationwide delivery operation. You will be required to provide outstanding levels of service to the client and run a profitable and compliant operation. Other responsibilities include:

• Manage driver performance, route performance, vehicle performance etc

• Tachograph analysis

• Ensuring legal compliance to the Traffic Commissioners Operating Licenses.

• Drivers hours optimisation and WTD compliance.

• Manage a small team of planner and CS staff, ensuring all routes are all planned in advance. • Identifying areas to optimise process with the systems and the network.

• Managing transport projects across the group, identifying and achieving savings in cost, efficiencies and administration.

• Work with and lead H&S at the operation, delivering excellence in every area.

• Achieving excellent customer service levels as a priority.

• Using the TMS - analyse the existing plan, looking for savings and improvement in customer satisfaction.

• Help to implement design solutions for new customers and prospective customers.

• Providing excellent customer service at all times as the main front for the business.

• The safe operation of all Transport activities ensuring compliance with H&S legislation & safe systems of work.

• Working closely with the other areas of the operation to ensure SLA's are achieved.

The Hours

8:00 - 18:00, Monday - Friday with flexibility required

The Right Person - Transport Manager

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience on their CV:

• Transport Management CPC is essential

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a transport management position, clearly demonstrated on their CV.

• Ideally have managed an important 3PL contract in the past.

• Budgetery experience

• Excellence in H&S, leadership and compliance.

• An outstanding driver management ability

• Excellent customer service skills

• Highly computer literate / systems savvy

• Have an excellent local knowledge of national geography

• The ability to identify and carry out improvements across your responsibilities.
