My client is an extremely well-established and one of the UK’s largest FMCG wholesalers & distribution providers of automotive components, and we are proud to support in their search for an experienced Transport Manager to lead across their extremely busy distribution operation out of their depot near Airdrie. (Soon moving to Bellshill).
 
This is a very visible and hands on role where you will be playing a key part in the delivery of transport operations of this busy site where you will be tasked with leading & motivating the team to ensure high standards and efficiencies across all transport related activities including driver management, route planning, servicing & parts, efficiencies and safety.
 
Shifts: Monday – Friday
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Effect smooth implementation of Company Policies, Practices and Procedures.
  • To motivate and encourage team members at all times.
  • To hold regular team briefings to keep everyone informed on performance and communicate important information and changes.
  • Identify training requirements that will improve the skills level of team and ultimately, the overall skills base.
  • Support the Site Manager with ensuring all Transport Staff, comply with all aspects of Legal and Company defined legislations and policies.
  • To constantly promote and practice the day to day health & safety procedures within the site.
  • Delivery of routine KPI targets.
  • Ensure focus on customer service targets at all times.
  • Ensure that Company initiatives are monitored and driven effectively.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers providing prompt, accurate and appropriate information.
  • Investigate delivery delays and errors and take appropriate action to resolve
  • Ensure accurate, orderly and efficient administration of the Transport Department at all levels to VOSA and Company determined standards.
  • Ensure relevant policies and procedures are followed to enable compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the aspects of responsibility under the control of this role.
  • Undertake ongoing reviews of Transport Department to ensure achievement of the Company’s pre-determined performance targets.
  • Regularly review all ‘day-to-day’ working practices and procedures within the Transport Department with a view to improving performance levels, efficiency and profitability.
 
Key Skills:
  • Transport Managers CPC.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, “every day is different”.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to re-plan and adapt as the shift develops.
  • Able to bond with team and achieve shift objectives as required.
  • Experience of WMS/TMS.
