Key responsibilities

In this Trainer Assessor Machining job, your responsibilities will include:

The Engineering Apprenticeship Academy provides training and assessment for apprenticeships, workplace assessments, full and part-time engineering courses from levels 1 to 3 and Higher Education

The post holder will join the existing Engineering team and be responsible to the Workshop Team Leader and Head of Engineering - Workshop and laboratories.

Milling Turning CNC

Current experience in an engineering workshop environment, particularly in the elements listed on page one of this job description. Vocational experience of working in industry and dealing with customers. Experience in working with Awarding Bodies and knowledge of their systems and paperwork. Experience in working with outside agencies and organisations. Working knowledge of information technology such as e-mail, the internet and other software applications. Desirable Attainments: The following skills are desirable but not essential:

Fluid (hydraulic / pneumatic) systems Essential Skills and Knowledge:

Ability to liaise effectively with internal and external agencies.

Excellent administrative and organisational skills.

A flexible approach. Knowledge of current developments within relevant sectors. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to motivate others. Ability to work under pressure.

Enthusiastic with an innovative approach. Ability to adopt a customer-care approach. Professional, neat appearance. Ability to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of Equality and Diversity.

Ability to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

Skills & experience

An Assessor award A1, or equivalent or a willingness to achieve the qualification

A relevant Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline is essential.

A teaching qualification or the willingness to undertake the Certificate of Education. These qualifications are mandatory for all trainers who teach on a publicly funded provision.

Evidence of formal structured training.

Experience in one or more of the elements listed below:

Fitting and assembly;

Machining (secondary processes);

Current experience in an engineering workshop environment, particularly in the elements listed on page one of this job description.

Vocational experience of working in industry and dealing with customers
