Perennial is the nation's only charity dedicated to helping people in horticulture. Together with our network of partners, we provide free support, information, advice and services for horticulturalists and their families who can be experiencing illness, bereavement, relationship or work issues or money difficulties.

We have a real focus on improving the health and wellbeing outcomes of people working in horticulture and have an ambitious preventative strategy to create better futures for people working in horticulture.

We are currently seeking Trainee Caseworkers to join our Casework Team on a permanent, full-time basis. We are looking for home-based workers to cover a range of geographical areas.

The Role

As a Trainee Caseworker, you will undertake accredited advice giving training, enabling you to deliver holistic support and advice services to people working across horticulture, through a variety of communication methods.

Providing advice across areas including benefits, training, employment, housing, health and social care, you’ll use assessment tools to enable individuals to identify their strengths and challenges and agree goals to help them move forward. You’ll discuss the range of options available and support them to make their own informed decisions., which can include identifying other specialist services which meet their needs.

Managing a diverse and complex caseload, you’ll co-ordinate, develop and regularly review case management plans, carrying follow up assessments to ensure people are moving forward towards their goals and monitoring the quality-of-service delivery.

Additionally, you will:

- Maintain detailed and accurate records
- Prepare assessments, case descriptions, summaries and management information reports
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Data Protection, GDPR, Health and Safety and Safeguarding practice

About You

To be considered as a Trainee Caseworker, you will need:

- Some experience in an advice or information setting
- Knowledge of person-centred holistic assessment practice
- Knowledge of employment, money confidence, housing, social care, benefits and health systems
- Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks and the legal and welfare issues relating to children and vulnerable adults
- Excellent communication skills, especially the ability to deal effectively with people

Please note, this role requires some travel and overnight stays.
