This is role will support the Head of Strategic Finance and the wider team as long-term senior payroll managers take early retirement to fill the gap whilst we seek permanent cover following earlier than expected management retirement.

Core role: To deliver a comprehensive payroll service to ensure all are paid accurately and on time. To carry out the payroll run processes and ensure adequate cover at all times.

Responsible for Council staff and schools payroll (Tower Hamlets runs a managed service for approximately 4b0 schools). Delivers timely and accurate payroll information and ensures third party liabilities are correctly calculated and settled. Manage the production of the Teachers' MDC return to the Government.

Provide day to day management support to a dedicated and skilled payroll team with a strong customer focus and decades of experience amongst individual officers. Hold team meetings, 1-2-1s and provide clear strategic and business as usual direction working closely with the Head of Service.

You must have prior public sector experience to be successful for this role.
