The Company

Our client is a major force with in the North East manufacturing sector. Continued growth and development of their site is the reason they are now looking to recruit a Tooling Engineer.

The Role

  • To support the Tooling Team, to facilitate the smooth running of the tooling area.
  • Ensure that presses always have tooling available.
  • Shop floor tooling control including ERP system, spreadsheets, and associated paperwork.
  • Interacting with Production and Quality, about tooling problems and improvements
  • Attending meetings, to provide support from the Tooling Team.
  • Keeping relevant data up to date, for any lines affected by tooling and expediting any tooling issues.
  • 5S Inc. audits and actions.
  • Basic tool maintenance, using welding, a die-grinder, and hand-stamping.
  • Looking after jigs and fixtures.
  • Inspection of new tooling
  • Use of AutoCAD i.e. creating drawings, making amendments, and drawing revision control.
  • Raising orders for tooling.
  • Communicating and expediting tooling dates with Toolmakers and suppliers.
  • Give engineering support to Toolmakers, as and when required.
  • Support for the Tooling Team as and when required.
  • To participate in improvement activities in all aspects of the business e.g. Kaizen projects.
  • Permanent day shift role.

The Person

  • HNC in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience in Toolmaking is an advantage.
  • Previous experience using Excel and Access.
  • Competent in AutoCAD i.e. creating and amending 2D drawings.
  • Understanding of gauging principles.
  • Experience with 5S and working with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Expediting toolmakers for best delivery dates.
  • Experience with pneumatic hand tools, such as die grinders.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
