Band 8A Inpatient Therapy Lead

Based in Milton Keynes, NHS

Aim of the role

  • Operationally manage therapists providing services to the Divisions of Planned and Unplanned care.
  • Provide visible leadership
  • To support the Head of Therapy in the development of strategic plans in line with the Trust objectives.
  • To deputise for the Head of Therapy in their absence and to attend meetings as required on behalf of the Therapy Services.

Main duties include

  • To represent the Trust externally (locally, regionally, and nationally) regarding Therapy services provided to patients.
  • To have oversight of complex patients and those with safeguarding concerns across the integrated therapy services, challenging clinical care provided and reviewing documentation
  • To provide expert opinion that informs the development of clinical pathways, in collaboration with other therapy Team Leaders, Therapy Leads and the Therapy Services Manager.
  • To maintain own clinical professional development (CPD) by keeping abreast of any new trends and national and international developments, incorporating them as necessary into your work.
  • To regularly hold a clinical caseload to support with clinical oversight and to provide peer review support to junior members of the team for their own learning and development.
  • Make recommendations for change to service delivery, protocols etc in conjunction with the Therapy and Clinical Leads and Therapy Services Manager.

Requirements:

  • Degree / Diploma in relevant AHP
  • HCPC registration
  • MSC or equivalent level in Specialist field
  • Management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience at a senior clinical (band 7) professional or managerial role, taking responsibility for day to day management of staff
