HRGO Recruitment are seeking for a driven individual to work within the Environmental Health Commercial Team in the areas of Food Safety and Infectious Disease investigations.

You will be working within the Principal Environmental Health Officer Commercial Team

Role Specific Responsibilities / Accountability's-

  • To undertake food safety inspections in all risk categories in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice
  • Investigation of complaints relating to food, food practices & food premises arising from drainage defects, pest control and accumulations.
  • Evaluation of all food businesses which fall within the scope of the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme and provision of an accurate rating,
  • Completion of inspection reports, drafting of reports & letters, issue of informal notices. To keep accurate records of all work and maintain the computer database.
  • To participate in routine food and water sampling programmes
  • To participate in investigations into any infectious disease outbreaks or serious incidents.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications-

  • Hold the Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) in Food Control/Premise Inspection or equivalent granted by a body, recognised by the CIEH and meets the competency framework under the current food law code of practice issued by the FSA.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car is required for this post.
  • Good IT skills
  • Detailed understanding of the relevant legislation related to these areas of work plus a detailed understanding of the underlying concepts and principles of the specialist area within which this job operates at an advanced level. A sound knowledge of the food industry and knowledge of the Food Law Code of Practice/Practice Guidance & other professional procedures or practices.
  • A 'can do' attitude, good problem-solving skills, be flexible as some work may be required outside normal office hours.

  • Participate in risk management in service areas and follow required reporting procedures, as appropriate, to minimise risks to the company's operations.
  • Follow and adhere to all Data Protection procedures and processes in accordance with relevant legislation ensuring all personal data of employees, members of the public and clients is used appropriately and retained within guidelines.
