Job Title: Technical Manager

Reports To: Site Manager

Location: Gloucestershire

Day to day you will be responsible for:

• Managing, implementing and maintaining site Food Safety and Quality Management Systems

including HACCP, TACCP, VACCP, and GMP to ensure compliance with BRC Global Standard,

relevant legislation, Halal, Red Tractor Certification and Customer requirements.

• Management of technical systems.

• Ensure that products are manufactured to the correct safety, legality, integrity and quality

standards and to continually challenge and improve the monitoring/ control systems.

• Ensure the correct implementation of all aspects of the Quality Management System.

• Work in conjunction with all relevant departments to advise on product quality management

• Ensure BRC & Halal accreditation is upheld along with any other customer specific audits.

• Ensure all HACCP plans, monitoring, checks are performed by trained staff and annual reviews

take place. Whilst also ensuring that the appropriate members of staff are trained to HACCP

levels required.

• Ensure that the traceability system is complete and challenged regularly to ensure compliance

• Train, coach and mentor employees to ensure audits are of a high standard, facilitating

continuous improvement and ensuring the highest technical standards are achieved.

• Ensure that the GMP, HACCP, quality and hygiene systems are audited on a regular basis with

audit findings effectively communicated and issues suitably acted upon.

• Management of the Pest Control company used on site.

• Ensure that there is effective communication with external customers on any quality or safety

issues as necessary.

• Handling of all customer complaints within a timely manner.

• Maintain and continually review the packaging waste regulations ensuring continued compliance

for site.

• Liaising with vet officials and APHA for export paperwork completion.

• Collation of data for KPIs and quality objectives with the aim to achieve them.

• Producing, approving, maintaining and management of labels for site with customers and

retailers along with in-house labels. Along with bar code management.

• Manage and lead a small team of one other by encouraging and demonstrating best practice

when working towards the achievement of the team’s overall objectives and standards.

• Responsible for leading team meetings by presenting departmental figures, quality issues and

relevant business updates.

You will have:-

• Good IT skills, including Excel

• Attention to detail, accuracy and speed

• Team worker

• Good communicator

• Well organized and able to hit deadlines

• Flexibility as and when required

Knowledge and Experience:

• Previous experience of working in an SME environment

• Experience of Food and Drink sector environment would be an advantage
