Technical Manager
Job Description
• Develop excellent working relationships with marketing and operations colleagues.
• Experience in product testing and certification to the relevant UK and European product specific standards for product safety, performance, and EMC.
• Provide oversight and technical guidance to the company on technical and quality related topics.
• Support all technical functions within the company to achieve their quality management objectives.
• Lead the technical function ensuring, clear roles and responsibilities for all team members, ongoing development and training of all team members and monitor emerging trends covering technical requirements, industry issues, ethical and sustainability developments.
• Workload is distributed appropriately.
• The technical function is highly regarded by our customers as a valuable resource which provides insight and support.
• Ensure all new suppliers and products are risk assessed or visited prior to purchase if required.
• Conduct audits of suppliers with performance concerns and support the supplier to develop and implement corrective action plans.
• Work closely with partner suppliers.
• Ensure the business is kept up to date with current legislation that affects product safety, integrity and legality.
• Support to the general duties undertaken by technical team.
• Talent enhancement management of the technical team staff members.
• Management of CI & KPI programs for the technical team.
Technical Manager
Essential Experience/ Skills/ Qualifications
• Have an electrical/electronic/engineering degree.
• Minimum 3-5 years relevant product manufacturing experience
• Experience working within a manufacturing organisation serving relevant markets, preferably lighting or electronics.
• Hands on experience with electrical/electronic systems as well as an understanding of mechanical principles associated with manufacturing and assemblies.
• Experience driving system and "best practice" process improvement.
• Familiar with relevant Quality standards (ISO 9001:2015 & PPAP) as well as product standards within the UK and European remits.
• Excellent IT literacy, written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Able to demonstrate leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
