We have a great career opportunity for an experienced Service Charge Accountant to join us as a Technical Accountant, so if you have the experience and would like to be part of a thriving, national managing agent with organic portfolio growth, this is for you!

At RMG we manage small and large blocks and estates for RMC (Resident Management Companies), L&T (Landlord & Tenant) and Developers. You’ll be working alongside a great team of accounting professionals, led by a highly experienced senior management team.

What will you be doing?

As a Technical Accountant you’ll carry out resolution of technical and financial client issues, financial reconciliations/take-on of new sites, Right to Manage and VAT reconciliations. This role suits an experienced Service Charge Accountant, fully conversant with complex service charge accounts and lease interpretation who would like to move away from high volume service charge accounts preparation to utilise your expertise to investigate, analyse and resolve more complex financial issues and produce first year service charge accounts on our new business sites. This role requires excellent communication skills as you will be frequently liaising with clients and managing agents directly.

  • Production of the first year service charge accounts on new business developments
  • Assist with the financial handover of new business including loading data to the system
  • Reporting and chasing internal & external for missing information
  • Assist with Right to Manage reconciliations and queries
  • Assist with financial handover from/to new managing agents and queries
  • Assist in accounts preparation for large sites & key clients
  • Provide reporting to management as requested
  • Assist the financial areas of the business with complex/key client requests and reconciliations
  • Lease interpretation
  • Any other Duties as required

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a finance/accounts position within the block/estate management industry
  • Knowledge of service charge finances, best practice guidance and legislative requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret leases
  • Strong data manipulation skills and use of excel
  • Good communication skills, delivering concise and complete information
  • Ability to problem solve complex financial issues
  • Experience in producing service charge accounts
  • Some experience in dealing with financial handovers of developments
  • Experience attending meetings and explaining complex financial issues would be preferred
  • Accounting qualification desirable but not necessary
