Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant - Primary School in Wantage, Oxfordshire

Position: Full-Time Teaching Assistant

Start Date: September 2024

Hours: 08.30am - 3.30pm Monday to Friday

TimePlan are working with a Primary School in Wantage, Oxfordshire. Situated in the heart of Wantage, Oxfordshire, the school is renowned for its inclusive environment, innovative teaching methods, and commitment to nurturing the individual potential of every child.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis starting from September 2024. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing support to two exceptional children within our school community:

  • Supporting a Child in Nursery with Physical Disabilities: You will work closely with a child in our nursery who requires additional support due to physical disabilities. Your role will involve assisting with mobility, personal care, and facilitating their full participation in classroom activities.
  • Supporting a Child in Reception with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP): You will also provide dedicated support to a child in Reception who has an Education and Health Care Plan. Your responsibilities will include implementing individualised learning strategies, offering one-on-one support, and collaborating with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the child's holistic development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised support to children with diverse learning needs, including physical disabilities and EHCPs.
  • Assist with personal care tasks as required, ensuring the safety, comfort, and dignity of the children.
  • Collaborate effectively with class teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to create inclusive learning environments.
  • Implement individualized learning plans and interventions to support the academic and social development of the children.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to promote a supportive and inclusive school community.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with children with physical disabilities and/or EHCPs is highly desirable.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the holistic development of every child.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the school environment.

Working Hours:

  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday.
  • Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM.
