The Role: As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing essential support to students with special educational needs within our esteemed SK16 Secondary School. Working closely with the school's inclusion team, you will assist in creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support: Offer one-to-one assistance to students with SEND, ensuring their specific learning needs are met, and progress is monitored.
  • Classroom Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and support strategies tailored to each student's requirements.
  • Behavioural Guidance: Promote positive behaviour management techniques and encourage social development among students.
  • Resource Preparation: Assist in the preparation of educational materials and resources, adapting them to suit the needs of students with various learning abilities.
  • Personal Care: Provide additional support for students with physical disabilities or medical requirements, maintaining their well-being during school hours.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Possess relevant qualifications or certifications related to education and/or special needs support.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with students with SEND is advantageous but not essential.
  • Passion: Show genuine enthusiasm for empowering students and helping them overcome educational barriers.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents.
  • Patience: Demonstrate patience, empathy, and understanding towards students' diverse needs.
  • Commitment: Be dedicated to supporting the school's inclusive ethos and contribute positively to the overall educational experience.
