About The Role:

Our Teaching Assistants *Health* play a crucial role in supporting students and lecturers within health-related courses. The day to day will typically include assisting with practical demonstrations, preparing teaching materials and providing one to one or small group support to students. They may also support with administrative tasks such as maintaining student records and organising required equipment for practical sessions.

Additionally, our TA's contribute to creating a positive learning environment by offering academic guidance and fostering student engagement and participation during lectures / workshops. Overall, our TA's within Health play a vital role in enhancing the learning experience and academic success of students pursuing health related studies.

COPC fully supports our TA's to gain teacher status and offers a full training program which is developed to meet individual needs to enable them on their career journey.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To support lecturers in preparing and delivering health related course materials
  • Assist with practical demonstrations and experiments during classes
  • Provide one to one or small group support to students who require additional help
  • Help maintain student records and assist with administrative tasks where needed
  • Organise and set up equipment for practical sessions
  • Offer academic guidance and feedback to students on their coursework
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment within the classroom
  • Encourage student engagement and participation during lectures and workshops
  • Collaborate with faculty members to assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
  • Stay updated with relevant curriculum changes and educational practices in the field of health education

The Candidate:

  • Holds a relevant level 3 qualification in a health-related field such as health sciences, nursing or public health etc
  • Familiarity with the curriculum and subject matter of the courses they will be assisting with
  • Evidence of commitment to professional development
  • A good standard of Maths and English
  • Good organisational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with students, lecturers and staff
