Are you a qualified teacher looking for a new challenge? Are you interested in teaching children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities? Have you been working in mainstream education and interested in working within SEND? If so, this role of a SEND Teacher may be for you.

This role of a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teacher involves working with pupils with various additional needs in a SEND school. The school is located in the Blackpool area and specialises in teaching and supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism, Challenging Behaviours and other Complex Needs. The school is extremely well supported in terms of staff with many 1-1 TA’s available to support through the day.

The successful applicant will need to have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and ideally have experience in a SEND setting.

Responsibilities as a SEND Teacher in this school:
• Planning, preparing and marking work, with the confidence to plan and deliver lessons.
• Insuring children are safeguarded in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023.
• Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Attending parent’s evenings, school meetings and taking an active role in the school.
• Managing behaviour In line with the school policy.
• Working closely with the SENDCo and Teaching Assistants/SUPPORT Workers to ensure that all the children are supported and achieving their full potential, and ECHP’s (Education and Healthcare plan) and IBP’s (Individual Behavioural Plan) are followed to meet the child’s needs.

Requirements as a SEND Teacher in this school:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience of working with SEND is ideal, but not essential.
• Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and the appropriate strategies to support pupils with the particular needs.
• As a SEND Teacher you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team with other Teachers and other Teaching Assistants and staff.
• Capability to build strong and trusting relationships.
This is a temporary position, unless stated otherwise.

Salary / Pay Rate will be dependent on your skills and experience.
