Job Title: Tax Senior
Location: Sevenoaks, Kent
Company Overview: Our client, a reputable firm in the tax industry, is seeking a skilled and motivated Tax Senior to join their team. The role involves working with the team to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of tax services, maintaining high professional standards, and supporting client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a small portfolio of clients and act as the main point of contact.
- Prepare complex letters and documentation for clients.
- Stay current with professional knowledge through attending courses and webinars.
- Manage billing and work-in-progress (WIP) and understand its importance within the firm.
- Maintain client relationships and attend client meetings.
- Control workflow and manage filing deadlines and payment dates.
- Identify tax planning and cross-selling opportunities, either passing them on or handling them directly.
- Support the Tax Manager and the wider senior tax team in their work.
- Maintain professional and ethical awareness.
General Responsibilities:
- Support the Tax Manager and the senior tax team as needed.
- Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Ensure accurate documentation and timely completion of assignments.
- Take ownership of assignments and maintain the quality of work.
- Have a good understanding of various tax areas, including income tax, capital gains tax, national insurance & PAYE, pension planning, corporation tax, business tax, and a basic understanding of inheritance tax and VAT.
- Deal with HMRC tax inquiries with the supervision of the tax manager.
- Research information when necessary and ask questions to clarify understanding.
- Manage client budgets and keep the tax manager informed of progress and potential issues.
- Complete timesheets by the required deadline and plan time effectively.
- Be aware of work pressures and fluctuations.
- Undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as required and maintain up-to-date records.
- Uphold high professional standards of conduct and practice.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong understanding of client needs and ability to manage a small portfolio.
- Effective communication with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to use initiative and organize time efficiently.
- Knowledge of various tax areas as mentioned.
- Willingness to take CTA exams if desired.
- Qualifed ATT - minimum 2 years relevant tax experience
- No ATT Qualification? - minimum 4 years relevant tax experience
