Systems Engineer

Location - Gillingham, Kent

Salary - £33,000 to £38,000

We have a fantastic opportunity in Gillingham for a Systems Engineer to work for one of our clients. In this role you will be working Monday - Thursday 8 am-4.30 pm with a 30-minute lunch break. Fridays 8 am-1 pm with no break.

Our client is a leading global manufacturer with an exceptional reputation, specialising in advanced technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing real-time safety-critical powertrain systems for use within passenger car and commercial vehicle applications
  • Designing control algorithms & strategies (using Matlab\Simulink) and auto code generation of production intent code Designing system diagnostics and CAN communication specifications
  • Developing validation tests for electrical test bench, HiL, and vehicle
  • Development of safety monitoring strategies to the EGAS standard
  • Capturing and analysing customer requirements using Polarion
  • Provide expertise for investigations and problem-solving activities
  • Supporting the customer’s engine and vehicle testing
  • Supporting system and hardware DFMEA

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in developing real-time embedded systems
  • Understanding of Matlab-Simulink blocks
  • Use of CCP calibration tools (e.g. INCA, ATI Vision, CANape)
  • Understanding of powertrain sensors and actuators (analogue, digital, H-Bridge, CAN-based, SENT)
  • Understanding of CAN, UDS and J1939 protocols
  • Understanding of C code
  • Experience working for a Tier 1 supplier in the automotive industry
  • Experience in a production intent auto-coding environment
  • CAN Tools (e.g. CANAlyzer)
  • Jira (or similar activity management tool)
  • Self-motivated with a strong and flexible attitude towards work
  • Ability to Communicate at all levels
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines when required
  • The ability to prioritize and organize own workload
  • Treat colleagues and work colleagues with respect (Equality and Diversity)
  • Educated to HND or degree level in an engineering discipline or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in developing real-time embedded systems
  • ASPICE V3.1 awareness
  • ISO26262 awareness
  • Microsoft Office tools
