System Integration Specialist
About the Role:
This is a 6-month contract position (Outside IR35) and benefits including private medical and life insurance. The role allows for a hybrid working model with 3 days onsite and the remainder flexible.
In this role, you will play a vital role in the integration of systems for our innovative eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) aircraft. You will be responsible for managing supplier projects, designing structural components, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Integrate systems into the wing, empennage, and boom structures of the eVTOL.
  • Manage supplier projects and provide routine progress updates.
  • Utilize Catia CPD for design engineering of composite demonstrators and structural detail parts.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Structures, EWIS) and external stakeholders to gather necessary information.
  • Create digital mock-ups (DMU) using standard parts and design custom brackets and supports as needed.
  • Attend key meetings and design reviews.
  • Manage work packages and ensure delivery plans meet customer requirements.
  • Optimize design solutions for cost, quality, manufacturability, serviceability, and performance.
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
  • Develop design for cost and manufacturability solutions.
  • Develop delivery and installation strategies, including installation designs and mod packs.
  • Implement basic design changes in metallic detail parts and assemblies using CATIA.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Degree level or equivalent in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Design Integration and Supplier Management for composite and/or metallic components.
  • Excellent knowledge of Aircraft Structures.
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering design for conventional and out-of-autoclave manufacturing methods.
  • Proficiency in Catia CPD and Engineering to GKN design standards.
  • Ability to generate DFM datasets, compensated tooling surfaces, and support tooling suppliers.
  • Experience with GD&T and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to establish credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of processes like ECRs, Concessions, and A/C industry standards and regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working within an integrated project team is a plus.
