Fareham Nomads Swimming Club is looking for a level 2 or 3 Swimming Coach to join their friendly team. Based in Fareham, Nomads Swimming Club has the ability to teach children to swim in Learn to Swim stage 1 though to 5 lessons and progress through to competitive squads. The Competitive squads take swimmers from aged 7 through to Performance and Master squads. We have six competitive and one Masters squad made up of 140 swimmers with a potential of 50 swimmers flowing through from Learn to Swim.
The competitive squads are coached from four pools located at Fareham Leisure Centre, West Hill Park School, Holly Hill leisure centre and Mountbatten and run for 48 weeks of the year.

Fareham Nomads are seeking to appoint a dynamic and progressive level 2 or 3 Coach who will work with the coaching team to deliver a structured training programme and supportive team environment which enables our 140 members to achieve their full swimming potential.

Key responsibilities of the role include;

    • Working alongside existing team of dedicated Swim Coaches and Teachers to deliver;
  • Effective coaching sessions
  • Continual monitoring of swimmer’s development
  • Assistance in the squad selection and attendance at competitions / galas
  • Prioritisation of swimmer welfare and compliance with Swim England procedures

The Club trains 7 days a week depending on the squad timetable in both AM and PM sessions. AM session are 06:00 - 07:30 Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and Sundays is 07:30 - 10:00. Evenings start no earlier than 18:00 and finish no later than 21:00 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, with Sunday evening training at 17:30 - 19:30.

Hours are negotiable upon employment but will be a minimum of 4 hours per week.

Requirements and skills

    • Essential;
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering effective swim coaching
  • Proven track record of developing age group swimmers to competition standard
  • Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Minimum of a Swim England Level 2 Coaching Certificate
  • Completed Swim England Safeguarding and Protecting Children training
    • Desirable;
  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
  • Experience of planning and delivering strength and conditioning programmes for swimmers
  • Completed Swim England Team Manager training
