Supported Living Worker Night Waking

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Location: Cranleigh

Salary: £21,616 - £22,388 per annum

The Role

Springvale, part of St Joseph’s Specialist Trust, is a supported living house in the heart of the large village of Cranleigh, midway between Horsham and Guildford. The needs of our tenants include autistic spectrum disorders, learning difficulties and language and communication disorders.

Sometimes the tenants may get frustrated, anxious and emotional and you will need to guide them through it by helping them to manage their feelings and behaviour. Comprehensive training and mentoring mean we will equip you with the confidence to support these young adults and provide safe and effective intervention if needed. If you are recruited, you will be required to complete Team Teach positive behaviour support training before employment. Physical and mental resilience and a ‘can do’ attitude is essential. Own transport is desirable because this location is semi-rural.

You will be purely working the night waking shift where your role will be to support the tenants if they wake during the night. Springvale is their home and they should be able to relax as so and feel safe in their home, night or day.

Key Responsibilities

Skills and Qualifications

  • We are looking for a caring and empathetic person to join our team.

  • The cost of the diploma is covered by the Trust. We have a vacancy for 37 hours per week night waking shifts on a rota basis for 52 weeks of the year.
  • Full training and mentoring will be given.

Benefits

  • **£1,000 Retention bonus - £250 after 1 month, £250 after 1 year, £500 after 18 months at Trust (subject to tax and NI)
  • Life Insurance and Medical cashplan commencing after a month at Trust
  • Team Teach positive behaviour support training, refreshed every two years, with ongoing assistance from on site Team Teach tutors within our Inclusion Team
  • Personalised approach to CPD, including training courses paid for by the Trust and regular 1:1 line management support with online appraisals
  • Free hot lunch supplied by our in-house catering team during term time
