Supervising Social Worker

Location: Wigan

Rate: £35

Hours: 37 hours per week

Hybrid working available

A Supervising Social worker is required for the Fostering Team in Wigan Council.

The Supervising Social Worker will be Managing and supporting a caseload of recruited foster carers supporting children.

Duties Include:

  • Provide high-quality social work practice to improve outcomes for children.
  • Ensure that practice is underpinned by the Deal principals, behaviours and our practice standards.
  • Supervise and support foster carers in meeting the needs of looked after children.
  • Recognise strengths, vulnerabilities and attitude to change to help keep children, young people and their families healthy, happy and safe.
  • Support carers to provide high standards of care for our children and young people.
  • Build and maintain close working relationships with partners including Start Well, education services, police and the NHS.
  • Maintain up to date, detailed and accurate records of all cases through Liquid Logic and other recording tools, ensuring these are purposeful and jargon free.
  • Contribute to the overall development of services for children and their families.
  • Embrace opportunities to learn, grow and develop your Social Work career.
  • Uphold and promote the high standards of the social care profession outlined in Social work England standards and maintain your Social Work registration in line with statutory regulations.

  • DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work
  • Social Work England registration
  • Enhanced and in date DBS certificate.
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on information available.
  • Fostering Experience Essential
  • Can work alone and within/contribute to a team/multi-agency set ups.
  • Possess knowledge of service needs.
  • Competent IT skills and be able to navigate electronic file/recording systems.
  • Can write clear, concise, and robust assessment/reports/files.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises
