Owing to retirement, Brockenhurst College is seeking a Student Services Advisor / Administration Assistant to work within our Student Services team on a part time, term time only permanent basis. This forward-facing post has a starting salary of £22,071 per annum (pro rata, DOE) and the opportunity to join a local government pension scheme.

As our Student Services Advisor / Administration Assistant you will be required to work Monday and Tuesday at our Marchwood campus.

You will provide a high standard of friendly and welcoming customer service and administrative support within our Student Services Admin Hub. As a college, we strongly support continuing professional development and will encourage you to develop your skills and interests through a wide selection of training programmes.

About the role:

As the Student Services Advisor/Administration Assistant, you will provide a quality customer service and administrative support service within the Student Services Admin Hub.

Responsibilities as our Student Services Advisor/Administration Assistant will include:

  • Administering our student curriculum and enrichment programmes
  • Maintaining filing and document management systems
  • Processing internal and external communication
  • Preparing documentation via a range of media
  • Shredding or disposing of confidential waste
  • Ensuring that the supply of materials is kept up to date
  • Assisting users in accessing the Student/New Student and Parent Portals and the College website
  • Providing friendly and efficient customer service at the "one stop" Helpdesk and/or Reception, to enable students, parents, staff and stakeholders to access a range of frontline support services
  • Assisting with the co-ordination and running of a range of events including College Open Evenings, Parents’ Evenings, Induction Day and the Enrolment days, providing information and advice to prospective students, their parents and other visitors
  • Assist with the arrangement of exams for students and invigilate as required
  • Liaise with the Travel department, student and parents to ensure access to the Marchwood Skills Centre
  • Administer and maintain the petty cash fund at Marchwood in line with college procedures
  • Carrying out duties with efficiency and diplomacy, ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times

As our Student Services Advisor/Administration Assistant, you’llideally have:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including Grade C (4) in English and Grade C (4) or above in Mathematics
  • Office based work experience.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications (including Word and Excel)
  • Able to work as part of a team, establishing a good rapport with colleagues, staff and managers.
  • Desire to contribute to the continuing development and effectiveness of the student admin, admissions and school liaison team.
  • Flexibility in working pattern to cover peak times and the very occasional Saturday.
