Structural Project Engineer - Central London - £50,000 -£60,000 per annum, plus pension, bonus and benefits;

The Company: A highly regarded, large and privately owned business, for over forty years they have been investigating and uncovering the reasons why structures fail and have developed numerous methods for their repair and preservation. Their expertise has an emphasis on building and civil structures. More generally, their focus on the built environment means they are home to professionals with in-depth knowledge of civil and structural engineering, architecture, geotechnical engineering, materials science and building conservation. Their investigation work is supported by their in-house, state of the art, testing and R&D facilities.

Your Role: You will initially work under the guidance and supervision of a principal structural engineer. You will be investigating and establishing the cause and origin of complete and partial structural failures, and defects. During initial site investigation you will oversee field testing, gather photographic evidence and take witness statements, you will then help to unravel the cause of the failure, consulting in-house specialists if required. The workload is national and international.

Travel: Occasional visits to the U.S.A will be required, plus regular site investigations.

Profile Required: A building structures design engineer, with at least three years design experience, this must include knowledge of steel and reinforced concrete. In addition to strong technical ability, natural curiosity, lateral thinking and deductive reasoning skills are vital in this profession. A 2:1 degree in civil or structural engineering is preferred. The position would suit an engineer with good interpersonal skills, there will be extensive contact with clients, colleagues and stakeholders.
