Elevation Recruitment Group’s Procurement & Supply Chain division are very excited to be working exclusively with a leading FMCG business who are looking for a Strategic Supply Chain Manager based in Sheffield. This is an exciting opportunity for the new Strategic Supply Chain Manager to play a pivotal role to drive the strategic and operational supply chain forward.

With Raw Materials being the primary category of purchases, you will be overseeing the procurement and delivery of the cost effective, safe, authentic, legally, ethically compliant, sustainable, and high-quality products that suitable for a range of applications within the food, drink and supplement industry.

As Strategic Supply Chain Manager, you will lead and manage the Supply Chain department, comprising of Sourcing, Purchasing, Order and Inventory Management, Logistics (overseas imports/exports) and Supply (inbound and outbound – EU business).

Reporting to and supporting the Commercial Director,  you will be managing 4 members of staff who are responsible for the operational elements of the Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities: 

Strategic Supply Chain/Procurement

  • Supporting the Commercial Director with the strategy development and execution that is aligned with the business needs/objectives, purpose, vision, mission and values
  • Support with the Strategic environmental scanning within the scope of procurement/supply chain. Feeding back the intelligence/insight on context, internal & external environment:
    • Market knowledge, business intelligence, competitor benchmarking. Staying abreast of the external environment, industry trends, regulatory changes, and market dynamics to inform supply chain decisions. Ensuring that key information is fed back to support the strategic decision-making process
  • Supporting Commercial Director in planning and coordinating a response to key strategic matters or changes. Informing the right stakeholders and participating in making key strategic, tactical and operational business decisions to resolve issues/conflicts, create value and promote organizational growth and prosperity
  • Ensuring that the business has adequate resources for strategy execution and completion of its day-to-day activities

Operational Supply Chain/Procurement

  • Overseeing/Management the day-to-day operations of the Supply Chain/Procurement function achieving maximum productivity with the established SLA’s and KPI’s being met, whilst ensuring compliance with company’s policies and procedures, food laws, key stakeholders' requirements
  • Ensure that key supply chain parameters affecting working capital meet the business need, are managed, accurate and up to date (commercials, lead time, supplier payment terms)
  • Holistic management of the sourcing function in line with the sourcing plan; making adjustments to the plan based on the changes in the internal/external environment. Ensuring that souring initiatives are project managed in line with the business need. Supporting sourcing team with the tender evaluation and approval based on commercial and technical factors; choosing the best option for the business
  • Participating in the key inventory planning activities such as review of the substantial changes in the forecasts and developed plans to respond to key supply chain disruptions during seasonal events such as Christmas and Chinese New Year
  • Ensure that the business is effectively managing all elements that can lead to operational losses within the supply chain function
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of supply chain professionals to the best of their capabilities and knowledge. Providing guidance, coaching, and performance management in line with the key objectives. Promoting a climate of accountability, openness, collaboration, and innovation
  • Face-to-face meetings with top 10 suppliers on a periodic basis (trade shows, site visits)

Requirements:

  • Experience working with a complex, changing environment with high standards of governance
  • Degree educated or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred) 
  • A proven track record of success in the implementation of strategic supply chain initiatives, procurement operations and developing/leading a team
  • Global mindset and experience managing supplies based overseas
  • Good communication and organization skills are vital for this role to liaise with the internal and external stakeholders
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Strategic Supply Chain/Procurement
