A global and growing Engineering company based in the Melksham area is currently recruiting for a Strategic Buyer to join their established procurement team.

Reporting into the Procurement Manager, your role is pivotal role in optimizing procurement processes, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and contributing to organizational delivery success. Your responsibilities will revolve around sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing quality products and materials.

 Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Understand the organization’s purchasing requirements and align them with strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify procurement needs.
  • Collaborate and identify group protocol, tools and requirements.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify quality products and materials.
  • Select suppliers based on  best practices and organizational requirements.
  • Analyse trends to make informed buying decisions.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, quantities, and delivery timescales.
  • Monitor supplier performance against metrics (price, quality, delivery, and customer service).
  • Strategy Development: Collaborate with suppliers to align product offerings with organizational goals.
  • Point of Escalation for Supplier Issues: Act as the primary contact for resolving supplier-related challenges and disputes.
  • Evaluate risks associated with procurement decisions.
  • Make informed choices to optimize cost, quality, and service.
  • Coordinate with inventory teams, management, and stockrooms.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • SAP or similar, MS Office: Be able to extract relevant data from SAP systems and create meaningful reports for decision-makers.

  • Implement automation solutions within SAP processes.

  • Streamline repetitive tasks, enhance efficiency, and reduce manual effort.

  • Analyse procurement data, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and present actionable insights.

  • A background in manufacturing/ Engineering / Electronics is desired
