Meridian Business Support are in partnership with a local Oil and Gas Company based in Grimsby. They are recognised as a world leading Hose Manufacturing business supplying to all major oil and marine companies worldwide and due to an increase in orders, they are now looking to recruit additional members to their successful team.

Position Summary
The ideal candidate will be alternating between the General Store and Engineering Store to carry out and support duties as outlined below;
  • Maintain both the external areas of the Site and the Waste Compound in a clean and safe condition, and work with both internal and external sources regards disposal of waste.
  • Engineering Stores Stock Controls.
  • Carry out core duties as per the Site Services Operative when required to cover.
Carry out duties in accordance with the “General Stores Safe Systems of Work” and Good Practice, maintaining good housekeeping and ensure correct use of PPE.

Duties, Responsibilities and Key Tasks
General Stores/Site Services

Perform any task within their trained capability, to achieve departmental and business objectives, as communicated by company briefings, team meetings and individual reviews. General duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:-
  • Loading and un-loading of vehicles using a fork truck.
  • Receiving and issuing goods for General Stores and Site.
  • Act as point of contact for 3rd party waste collectors and sign off approval documentation as required
  • Loading of scrap pallets, polythene and hazardous waste materials.
  • Disposing of waste through the correct means
  • Weighing and recording waste data
  • Assisting stores duties when required
  • Ensuring packaging and secondary packaging is correct
  • Monitor waste compound compliance
  • Collection and storage of scrap pallets from around site.
  • Gritting of site roadways and crossings when required.
  • Clear site of debris.
Engineering Stores
  • Maintain spare part stock by raising purchase requisitions as and when required using SAP- ME5A   (Can be trained but needs to be IT literate)
  • Raise purchase requisitions for planned job equipment and materials.
  • Ensure delivered stock is stored in appropriate location and that faulty items are sent for repairs or disposed of appropriately.
  • Carry out 3 monthly stock checks to show physical quantities of stock.
  • Communicate with vendors on replacement stock for legacy equipment or discontinued equipment.
  • Ensure free consumable stock is regularly checked and replenished.
  • Keep on track with site waste management.
  • Create new material numbers when new spares are identified.
  • Forklift trained.
Report Incidents / Hazards and if possible put right.
 Carry out the job requirements in full compliance with the Code of Conduct.
 Support and demonstrate the '4 Values' and associated 'behaviours' in carrying out your duties and responsibilities

Experienced Required
Previous experience in a material handling role within an industrial environment would be advantageous.

Knowledge Required
A reliable and flexible approach to meeting the job requirements.
A positive attitude to health, safety and the environment.

Qualifications / Skills Required

  • Trained to drive a forklift truck (Counterbalance)
  • Ability and willingness to be trained to cut up hoses.
  • Self motivated and well organised.
  • Ability to read and implement company procedures and keep records relating to job activities, including basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and external contractors at all levels.

Pay Grade - 4

£13.05per hour

Hours of work

Mon – Fri 7am -3pm
(Mon, Wed and Fri in General Stores)
(Tues and Thurs in Engineering Stores)
