Stewardship Analyst

Man Group has been a front runner in responsible investing and looks to continue to set the pace with regards to the stewardship of our client's assets.

Reporting to the Stewardship Manager, this role sits within the Stewardship team, which is part of the Responsible Investment group of Man Group. The candidate will focus on the implementation of stewardship approaches - including proxy voting and engagement - across Man Group's investment engines.

As a Stewardship Analyst, you will have a variety of responsibilities:

Proxy Voting
  • Manage the day-to-day relationship with our proxy voting research provider.
  • Oversee consistent and informed proxy voting activities, ensuring timeliness and completeness of the execution of our proxy votes.
  • On critical holdings, perform an extra level of analysis of the 3rd party research and recommendations to ensure we vote in alignment with our firm's policies and/or client requests.
  • Respond to portfolio managers' queries on proxy voting.
  • Maintain and produce accurate voting summaries for various stakeholders.
  • Prepare new funds for proxy voting by completing powers of attorney (POA) and liaising with our proxy advisor and custodians.
Engagement
  • Work with portfolio managers and collaboratively with other investors to deliver tangible results at investee companies.
  • Utilise company disclosures, third party research and other available resources to conduct non-financial analysis to assess company adherence to ESG market standards across different industries.
  • Identify issuers for targeted engagement in order to meet our ESG / Responsible investment (RI) targets.
  • Engage with corporate representatives from our funds' portfolio companies to discuss ESG matters, including climate change, biodiversity, human rights and corporate governance.
Reporting and Policy Updates
  • Respond to engagement and proxy voting-related queries in due diligence questionnaires (DDQ) or Requests for Information (RFI)
  • Maintain stewardship-related policies and contribute to UK Stewardship Code requirements
Skills/Experience

In addition to experience working in sustainable investment roles either at another financial institution or research provider, you will have:
  • A degree in a relevant subject (law, finance, economics, or business).
  • IMC, CFA level 1, CFA in ESG investing or equivalent qualification (desirable).
  • Knowledge of policy issues of corporate governance, stewardship and shareholder rights and responsibilities, with evidence of knowledge of wider responsible investment issues.
  • Strong IT skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • A motivated self-starter that is organised and proactive.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, take initiative and add value to the team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong presentation and writing skills.
