Role

The nature and extent of support you will provide is broad and varied and candidates will need to have good knowledge and have worked professionally as a Paint Spray Finisher, alongside their extensive knowledge of model / prop making. You will have experience of colour mixing to specific colour standards and be able to develop and create specialist finishes to replicate materials and textures. You will also have experience with general workshop machinery and have knowledge of health and safety within a workshop environment.

As a Spray Paint technician you will provide a full technical support service to students and staff, including training, practical assistance and advice on the use of equipment and appropriate process and techniques. You will be responsible for the day-to-day organisation and management of the workshop including ensuring compliance with DMU Health & Safety Policy as it applies to their work area and activities. All staff are also expected to understand the need to put students first and to be proactive in improving the support that students receive.

This role is on a full time, term time basis. 37 hours per week for 35 weeks of the year. The salary shown will need to be pro-rated down to reflect the role is term time only.

Ideal Candidate

You will have a good standard of general education with a qualification in a design related subject. You will have experience of working within a prototyping/model making environment as a paint spray finisher and have knowledge of both contemporary and traditional practice in Art & Design. This role will require you to be flexible and organised, whilst continually maintaining and overseeing the safe use of equipment within your workshop.

The successful candidate will need to undergo a satisfactory DBS check.
