Band 6 Speech and language Therapist:

Location:Doncaster

Start date: ASAP

Placement length: To be discussed at interview

Main Duties / Responsibilities:

  • To provide specialist support to adult patients/service users including support with alternative and augmentative communication aids.
  • To ensure well co-ordinated, integrated care plan for individual patients/service users.
  • To independently assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of communication disorders for clients with complex speech, language and cognitive disorder, using both standardised assessment and informal assessment protocols.
  • To independently assess, diagnose and treat patients with dysphagia and to refer for specialist instrumental assessment of the swallow as and when indicated.
  • To regularly liaise with and give specialist advice to professionals from other statutory agencies e.g. Social Services.
  • To work flexibly across a wide variety of settings, including wards, clinics and patient’s homes providing specialist advice and management of complex patient needs.
  • To communicate complex conditions and related information from assessment to clients, carers, multidisciplinary team members and other professionals including GP’s and Consultants.

Essential:

  • Experience working with neuro rehab patients
  • Driving license

Desirable:

  • Experience working with patients with dysphagia
