Specialist Autism Teacher for Child in Dubai

ASEND are looking for an enthusiastic specialist autism-trained and experienced teacher to support a 6 year old autistic pupil at an English school in Dubai. This is a permanent role and the right candidate will work with the pupil full-time, for 5 days a week in term time with some days support in holidays. The pupil is bright and verbal; we believe he will flourish in a nurturing environment and with a lower demand approach. We wish to appoint an individual who is passionate about working with autistic children, and who can also be fun, solution focused, and calm. We are offering a competitive salary of £70,000 - £80,000 pa for this role. Accommodation will be provided as well as a visa if required.

Key responsibilities

• Adapting the curriculum to suit the child.

• Creating appropriate goals and evaluation of academic progress.

• Monitoring the educational progress and making referrals for additional support services if needed.

• Providing some support to the pupil and his brother at home during parts of the school holidays.

Requirements

• At least 2 years’ experience in an educational setting with children with SEND / autism.

• QTS

• A certificate or specialisation in autism

• The ability to flexibly adapt and modify academic tasks.

• Excellent social and communication skills with children and parents.

• A deep understanding and passion of working with children.

• The ability to speak in Arabic would be an asset as that’s the language spoken in the home, but this is not essential as education is in English.
