We are seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to provide support in a Key Stage 1 (KS1) setting. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with diverse learning needs.
Day to day of the role:
- Assist the lead teacher in creating and maintaining a supportive and safe learning environment for KS1 students with special educational needs.
- Work closely with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning objectives and to promote engagement in activities.
- Implement personalised learning plans and adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of each student.
- Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and resources that cater to students’ individual needs.
- Monitor and record students’ progress, providing feedback to the lead teacher and contributing to student evaluations.
- Facilitate social integration and help students develop interpersonal skills.
- Support students with emotional or behavioural challenges, providing guidance and implementing positive behaviour management strategies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with special needs children.
- Understanding of the KS1 curriculum and the specific needs of students with learning difficulties.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing disposition.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
- Relevant qualifications in education or special needs support are highly desirable.
