Are you an experienced Support Worker or Healthcare Assistant seeking a career in Education? Are you passionate about working with and supporting children with special educational needs?

A special school in Wakefield is seeking an experienced Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school is a provision attached to a mainstream secondary school and caters for children and young people aged 12 to 16 years with Autism, Learning Disabilities and Complex Needs.

They are looking for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join them on a full-time, long-term contract (Monday to Friday) to start as soon as possible until the end of the academic year and beyond.

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, your roles and responsibilities will include:

  • To build strong rapport with the pupils and support with behaviour management if required.
  • To support the students academically with their learning to help them take leaps and strides forward with their education.
  • To work alongside the class Teacher with the day-to-day routine of the class.
  • To assist the support staff in providing the best care for the students and ensure their care plans are followed accurately.

To work as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant at this school, you should ideally have experience supporting young people with special educational needs and preferably in a classroom setting to demonstrate your ability to provide the best support to the pupils.
