Special Needs Learning Support Assistant

Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire

Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time/Temporary, Term Time Only (8:30am-3:30pm)

Salary: £83-£90 a day dependant on prior experience and training

Veritas Education are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Learning Support Assistant to join a primary special school in Bradford. As a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing individualised support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they have equal access to education and opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special needs, helping them access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities.
  • Following learning plans for students with special needs, collaborating with teachers and other professionals to ensure tailored support.
  • Promote an inclusive learning environment by fostering positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents, and by actively participating in the planning and delivery of lessons.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and support plans to address challenging behaviours and promote positive social interactions among students.
  • Support students with Special Educational Needs, Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities, complex needs and challenging behaviours.
  • Assist with moving and handling and intimate hygiene care, where necessary.
  • Attend relevant training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in special education and learning support.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students or adults with special educational needs is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of special needs and the UK education system.
  • Knowledge of different learning styles and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Level 2 Team Teach trained, although this can be offered by Veritas.
  • Safeguarding trained, although this can be offered by Veritas.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced child and adult workforce DBS or be willing to apply for one upon registration.
