Position - Social Worker - Connected Carers Team
Location - South Tyneside Council


South Tyneside Council are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join their Connected Carers Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality support to kinship carers, foster carers, and other connected persons who provide care to children and young people in need. You will work collaboratively with colleagues, partner agencies, and families to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people in care.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting assessments of prospective kinship and foster carers, ensuring they meet the necessary standards and regulations
  • Providing ongoing support, advice, and guidance to carers to help them meet the needs of the children and young people in their care
  • Developing and implementing care plans in collaboration with carers, children, families, and other professionals
  • Advocating for the rights and best interests of children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard and their views are considered in decision-making processes
  • Collaborating with other agencies and professionals to coordinate services and support for children and families.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, interventions, and case progress

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with a relevant social work qualification and HCPC registration
  • Experience working within a children's social care setting, preferably with experience in kinship care or fostering
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make evidence-based decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish effective working relationships with diverse individuals and groups
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently, managing a complex caseload efficiently
